Corrections & Accuracy Policy

We are committed to accuracy. When we get it wrong, we say so — clearly and promptly.

Our Promise

Cerritos News strives for accuracy in every article we publish. When errors occur, we correct them as quickly as possible and transparently label all corrections so our readers can trust what they read.

Types of Corrections

Factual Corrections

When a published article contains a factual error, we correct the text in the article and add a clearly labeled "Correction" note at the top of the article stating the original error and the corrected information, along with the date of correction.

Clarifications

When an article is accurate but may be misunderstood, we add a "Clarification" note explaining the additional context without altering the original text.

Updates

When an ongoing story develops, we add an "Update" note at the top of the article with the new information and date, preserving the original article below.

Retractions

In rare cases where an entire article is found to be false or irreparably inaccurate, we retract the article, replace it with a retraction notice, and explain why the content was removed.

How to Report an Error

If you believe we have published inaccurate information, we want to hear from you. Please contact us with:

  • The URL of the article in question.
  • The specific error or concern.
  • The correct information and any supporting sources if available.
Submit via Contact Form Email: info@cerritosnewspaper.com

Our Standards

  • We aim to correct factual errors within 24 hours of being notified.
  • We never silently alter published articles — all changes are labeled.
  • We do not remove articles simply because a subject finds them unflattering, provided they are accurate.
  • We distinguish clearly between news reporting and opinion/editorial content.
  • We hold ourselves to the same standards we apply when reporting on others.
